St. Petersburg Alumnae Chapter History

The St. Petersburg Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta first met in 1949/1950, as a club, with Shirley Todd being the first president. In 1975/1976, the club met twice a month...noon and night to accommodate the younger, working members.

Over the years the group has participated in diverse fundraisers and activities including book club, nutrition and fitness lectures sending Winter Finals care packages to the collegiates, CASA, (the guardian ad litem program), raising herb plants, auctions, fashion shows, art lectures, and entertaining our actives at Christmas time. We take turns as hostesses of Founder's Day with the Tampa and Clearwater Chapters.

Our members continue to represent a diverse group of women, including a judge, CPA, lawyer, head of a personal catering business, co-founder of Florida Archeology, owner/operator of a pet store, hospital trustee, employee in the sports industry, as well as volunteers in many civic organizations, including our local Panhellenic Association.

As long time Florida residents, we especially enjoy the uniqueness newcomers bring from many other college and alumnae chapters. Our chapter has been greatly enriched by their experiences.
